Dodd Sidecar Racing Team

Profile

Lets start with some History.
The interest began back in the school days when my brother and I used to follow our father Clive and his brother Barry as they elected to enter their sidecar outfit into as many race meetings as possible. Mum Julia always at their side, to my brother and I it was motor racing and a jolly good day out.

In the year 2000, my brother and I just out of the blue decided that we should have a go, and emulate our fathers interest. We purchased our first F2 sidecar unit and entered into a meeting at Lydden.
Our first year showed great promise with reasonable success, we also sold our F2 600CC sidecar and purchased a new Windle chassis with a 500cc two-stroke power unit, this was then further upgraded to a 1000cc four-stroke power unit.

2002, first competed in the Bemsee F1 class championship and then progressed into the MRO (Motorcycle Racing Organisation) championship upper level with great results.

2003, competed a full season in the MRO championship, best result 5th and finished within the top 15th out of 25 races.

2004, to improve competitive level, purchased New LCR (Louis Christian Racing) chassis, continued with the R1 Yamaha power unit and competed in the Eastern Airways Sidecar Championship, ending up 14th in overall championship with a best finish of 6th at Assen in Holland.

To assist with the funding of a very expensive hobby Dave and I opened up into business with Opal Fabrications as we found it difficult working for others and finding the time to race.

2005, currently we are competing in the MRO championship and selected UEM European events when funds allow.
